CHALLENGES
SMS Equipment was looking for a solution to track theirĀ on-road fleet of light-duty vehicles and service trucks on aĀ single platform along with other assets. Their primary goalsĀ were to improve safety and assist in locating fleet assets and theĀ recovery of stolen vehicles.
Ā
The SMS fleet is required to travel across some of the mostĀ remote and challenging geography in the world. EnsuringĀ drivers were safe on the road, in work alone and remoteĀ situations is of paramount concern to SMS.
SOLUTION
The Certified Tracking Solutions team approached SMSĀ Equipment in 2011 and worked with key SMS team membersĀ to understand their needs. A comprehensive proposal thatĀ included Titan GPS on and off road applications wasĀ submitted and assessed through a rigorous vendor selectionĀ process. Certified Tracking Solutions was ultimately selected.
RESULTS
Initial results put a spotlight on travel speeds. Over-speedĀ Exception Alerts had been set-up with the help of the CTSĀ team through initial system training. Operations and regionalĀ managers immediately began to receive a high volume ofĀ over-speed alerts sent via email and text message. The SMSĀ leadership team worked with drivers to curb dangerous andĀ wasteful driving behaviour and over a short period of timeĀ significant improvements had been made.
Ā
SMS long provided a call number on company vehicleās toĀ encourage the public to report undesirable driving behaviour.Ā Every call received is taken seriously and investigatedĀ thoroughly. With the Titan GPS tracking system, these calls areĀ now easily researched and acted upon conclusively.
Ā
The number and severity of accidents/collisions and otherĀ safety-related incidents have dramatically improved sinceĀ implementing Titan.
